CMS Tips

Content Creation

  • WYSIWYG - What you see is what you get. This is true to a certain extent. Font size, type and layout in the page editor may be different than what you see you on your web page.
  • It works best to paste your content into the CMS using the paste as plain text option. You can then format your content using the WYSIWYG editor.
  • Using the paste as word button more than once in a page will break your page. Please do not use this option.
  • Using Ctrl-V to paste content into the Page Editor from Word or Excel will give you an error message when trying to preview your changes. Please do not use this shortcut.
  • The CMS Page Editor allows you to also use keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl-B for bold while editing your page.
  • In the CMS, a paragraph is the content between one hard return (pressing the enter key) and another.
  • Soft Line Breaks:  press Shift-Enter to do a line break rather than a paragraph. (This makes the content appear single spaced.)
  • Non-Breaking Space:  press Control-Shift-Enter instead of the spacebar. This will prevent a word wrap at the space.
  • Spell Check:  You will need to install a plug-in for the spell check to work in the Page Editor.
  • To learn more about formatting content and the page editor, please refer to page 17 of our CMS User Guide.

Linking to a File

  • A file needs to be uploaded to the website via the File Manager tab before you can link to it. You may want to upload all files before you start to create or edit your web page.

Shared Content

  • You can create a web page (source page) and then share its contents with another page (shared page).  You can only edit the content on the source page.
