Program FormatInnovative and Dynamic LearningThe Bloch Executive MBA enables accomplished, working professionals to enhance their knowledge, skills, leadership, networks, and mastery of essentials for success in a diverse and dynamic global economy. The EMBA features an integrated curriculum: courses and topics build on each other, as class members proceed through the program as a cohort. This creates a powerful learning environment and provides for maximum return on time and resources invested. The curriculum is focused around four core elements: leadership, strategic thinking, innovation, and executive judgment. Woven throughout is an emphasis on ethics, communication skills, teamwork, and self-awareness - all critical competencies for today's senior leaders. Each year begins and ends with an immersion residency and intense study in key areas: leadership, public policy, innovation, and global management. Cases, simulations, field-based team projects, and opportunities to address work issues provide real-world applicability. An executive coach works with individuals and teams to enhance communications, project management, executive presence, and decision-making skills. Professional assessments provide feedback and critical information to inform the focus for each student's individual development plan. Online tutorials and additional learning supports assure that students from all sectors and backgrounds succeed in strengthening their business acumen. In the first year, students study what all senior leaders need to know: the basics of leadership and organizations, economics, marketing, finance and accounting, statistics, public policy, and approaches to ethical and sound decision making. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge of all that impacts organizational judgment and professional success in a fast-paced, global world with courses in law, leadership, strategy, global management, operations, information technology, and an elective. Electives offered vary with cohorts, and in recent years have included a course in advanced finance or new venture creation.
