William Kay

William R. Kay, a member of the Bloch Executive Education associated faculty, is dedicated to helping organizations and individuals enhance their competitiveness, productivity, and technological performance. Mr. Kay specializes in assisting businesses in the quest to improve performance in the areas of strategic planning, finance and accounting, project management, marketing, sales and sales management, and team building following the accelerated learning model for adult learning.

Mr. Kay’s professional experience includes over 30 years experience as CEO, CFO, and owner of a major company. For the past 21 years he has been helping major Fortune 500 companies with organizational development and training.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Mr. Kay is an experienced consultant, seminar leader, speaker and business owner with more than 30 years of experience in business and training and development. Bill received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, and a Master of Business Administration in Finance at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri.

Prior to founding W. Kay & Associates, Bill was the owner and president of William Kay Mfg. Co., a major apparel-manufacturing firm. He managed and coordinated sales and production of $12 million in three plants employing people in three states. In 1989, he consulted with the firm’s largest customer who purchased the company.

Among his significant accomplishments, Mr. Kay has designed, developed, and delivers the following:

  • Accelerated Learning workshops for corporate trainers
  • “How Do We Keep Score” in the Insurance/Reinsurance Industry?
  • Multi-day Business Literacy workshops for many major Fortune 500 companies.
  • Programs to teach selling skills to entrepreneurs, which have been delivered as Train-the-Trainer sessions at major entrepreneurial centers and universities across the country.
  • Needs assessments for managers and supervisors, which subsequently led to development of a leadership skills training conference based on those needs.
  • Training for company-wide implementation of a new integrated accounting system for a major utility.
  • Training and consulting for the American Management Association, Rockhurst University/National Seminars Group, Johnson County Community College, and Padgett-Thompson.

He has helped his clients assess their training needs and has developed customized training addressing those needs. He follows a proven training model that utilizes Accelerated Learning when designing, presenting, and facilitating interactive training.

Education – M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, Tucson.

Clients: Bayer Healthcare, BIC Corporation, Black Hills Energy, Capital One, General Electric, Genworth Financial, Great Plains Energy/KCP&L, Mitsui Corporation, Munich Re America, SwissRe, PepsiCo, Syniverse Technology, and other major For Profit and Not-for-Profit organizations.
